Recess
Recess
is an important time for students to develop social skills. Please help
us remind students to choose safe and friendly games on the playground.
Touch-free games like soccer or freeze tag are best. This is a
great opportunity to show virtue!

Math
Students
will review subtracting with renaming. Please see email for a parent
newsletter explaining addition and subtraction in Singapore math terms
for your reference. We will then review all concepts we have covered
thus far in unit 1-2 including place value, addition, and subtraction.
Friday, we will begin our next unit on measurement. Students will
practice measuring objects with nonstandard units of measurement such as
paper clips.
Science
We
have begun our unit on insects. Students will learn how insects see,
feel, taste, hear, and touch the world around them. They will then have
an opportunity to observe insects up close using a hand lens.
Grammar
Students will learn how to use a comma in a list and write based on passages from Ginger Pye.
History
Students
are learning about ancient China. They will learn about the land, the
capital city of Beijing, Confucius, the Great Wall, and important
inventions from China. We will celebrate this unit on Friday, November
5th.
Literature
We will begin reading The Cricket in Times Square, please ensure you child has a copy on Monday. Students will review the terms-setting and characters. They will also compare and contrast a cricket's sound to classical music. Don't forget to sign up for reading groups, thank you!
